County Councils are community volunteer groups -
public officials, labor,
education, social service, business and low-income
representatives - who
oversee individual county projects. Councils advise the
agency's Board of
Directors on programs and policies.
| Activities include sponsorship of Food Pantries,
Clothing Thrift Shops and
Special projects such as Assistance and Christmas Bureau, Angel
Tree, and
Lunch and Munch.
Clothing Thrift Shops are provided to community residents at
very low prices or at no cost if need is determined. This
service consists of clothing and household items which are
donated by community members and organizations. Proceeds are
used for client emergency assistance and other local projects. |
 |
Food Pantries provide food and paper products to individuals and
families in
need of household assistance. This program is a
cooperative effort between Community & Family Services, Inc.,
|
 |
CFS County Councils, churches
and local
organizations. NO fee is charged to participants.
Support and funding for food pantries is provided through
churches, service
organizations, community groups and individuals. Food is
provided from
community donations in addition to the U.S. Department of
Agriculture's
Commodity Program.
